Law Foundation

Origins of the Thammasat University Law Foundation, from its inception to the present day (1983-2021).

The Thammasat University Law Foundation was established by the board of directors of the Thammasat University Law Society, term 4, 1983, with Mr Saman Suwannachot as President of the Society, with four promoters:

The board of directors of the society at that time assigned Mr Pratan Wathanawanich to be the operator for the registration of the society’s establishment. This occurred when it received permission for the registration of its establishment as a juristic person on 3 February 1984 from Bangkok and the Ministry of the Interior, using the name of the foundation at the time, which was “The Foundation of the Law Society of Thammasat University”. It received registration number 2346 and used the address of the Faculty of Law, Thammasat University, 2 Prachan Road, Prabaromaharachawang, Pranakorn, Bangkok, and the initial members of the executive board of the foundation were the following 11 individuals:

At the registration of its establishment, the foundation began with capital from the Thammasat University Law Society in the amount of 100,000 baht, and then grew through donations from many loyal people who collected and established funds and used the fruit of the investments for public benefit according to the objectives of the foundation.

In 1989, the meeting of the board of directors of the foundation unanimously resolved to:
  • Appoint Professor Sanya Dharmasakti and Professor Jitti Tingsaphat to be spokesmen and advisors for the foundation;
  • Establish and authorise the Professor Sanya Dharmasakti Fund and the Jitti Tingsaphat Fund (previously, the meeting had resolved to combine these two named funds into a single fund, with the initial board of directors comprising 12 individuals); and
  • Together with the “Society” and the “Faculty” of Law, Thammasat University, to hold an event on the 80th birthday of Professor Jitti Tingsaphat, to raise income from publishing a textbook on the CCC, section by section, through a project to publish a textbook on the Civil and Commercial Code, section by section.

The foundation had the assistance of Mr Tawee Nunphakdee as auditor of the foundation, who acted without compensation from its beginning.

In 1985, the foundation changed its registered name to “Thammasat University Law Foundation” using the abbreviation “Mor. Nor. Thor.”, and called Thammasat Law Foundation in English, abbreviated to T.L.F. It received income from donations and continually conducted activities for public benefit.

Currently (17 October 2012-present), the foundation operates its activities consistently and has registered changes whereby the executive board of directors of the foundation consists of the following 19 individuals:

หลักสูตรนิติศาสตรมหาบัณฑิต สาขากฎหมายทั่วไป

หลักสูตรนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการสร้างและพัฒนาบัณฑิตให้มีทักษะแห่งอนาคตอย่างเท่าทันการเปลี่ยนแปลงของโลกในมิติต่าง ๆ โดยมุ่งเน้นการศึกษาที่มีการค้นคว้าวิจัยด้านนิติศาสตร์ด้วยตนเอง และการเรียนรู้จากประสบการณ์จริงโดยการสร้างเครือข่ายการเรียนรู้ร่วมกับภาครัฐและภาคเอกชน รวมถึงการสร้างองค์ความรู้ใหม่ให้สอดคล้องกับสังคมที่เปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็วตามภาวะเศรษฐกิจและสังคม ตลอดจนเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศในบริบทการจัดการศึกษาเพื่อการพัฒนาอย่างรวดเร็ว

หลักสูตรนี้แบ่งเป็น 2 แผนการศึกษา คือ แผน 1 เป็นการศึกษาวิชากฎหมาย 24 หน่วยกิต และวิทยานิพนธ์ 12 หน่วยกิต และแผน 2 เป็นการศึกษาวิชากฎหมาย 30 หน่วยกิต และวิชาการศึกษาค้นคว้าอิสระ (Independent Research) 6 หน่วยกิต

การเข้าเรียนตามหลักสูตรนี้ ผู้สมัครต้องผ่านการสอบข้อเขียนวิชาหลักกฎหมายแพ่งและพาณิชย์ หลักกฎหมายอาญา หลักกฎหมายมหาชน หลักกฎหมายระหว่างประเทศ รวมถึงพิจารณาผลการทดสอบคะแนนภาษาอังกฤษ (TU-GET/TOEFL/IELTS) และการสอบสัมภาษณ์สำหรับผู้สอบผ่านข้อเขียน

นอกจากการเรียนในชั้นเรียนแล้ว คณะนิติศาสตร์ยังสนับสนุนให้นักศึกษาในหลักสูตรนิติศาสตรมหาบัณฑิตดูงานตามหน่วยงานหรือองค์กรต่าง ๆ ทั้งในประเทศและต่างประเทศเพื่อเพิ่มพูนความรู้และประสบการณ์ของนักศึกษาผ่านทางประสบการณ์ของผู้ที่อยู่ในสายงานหรือภาคปฏิบัติ
