History and Information about the Faculty
In addition to being one of the oldest and most prestigious legal academic institutions in Thailand, the Faculty of Law, Thammasat University has been steadily growing and expanding in terms of the number of programmes offered and its campuses, to meet the needs of learning and professional development. Education is conducted in three campuses: Tha Prachan, Rangsit, and Lampang. In addition to the preparedness of both academic personnel and support staff, as well as the fitness of buildings, facilities, and all other amenities necessary for students to live and study in the university, the Faculty of Law also places importance on providing sufficient audiovisual equipment and modern information technology devices for education and services to students.
Tha Prachan
The Faculty of Law, Thammasat University originally conducted legal education at the Tha Prachan Campus. In its first phase, education was offered on an undergraduate degree programme in jurisprudence, which heavily focused on law courses. In 1949, education was restructured into four faculties, and the name “Faculty of Law” was adopted. In 1972, the faculty introduced a law programme for graduates from other faculties. Students on this programme studied law courses as compulsory subjects. The Faculty of Law, Tha Prachan offers law programmes at undergraduate and graduate level, international programmes, graduate diploma programmes, and programmes at the master’s and doctoral levels. It also provides specialised law training and workshops for any interested members of the general public, for whom the faculty offers education and training outside of business hours. Currently, the faculty offers a four-year Bachelor of Laws programme in Business Law (International Program) and a three-year LL.B. (Graduate) programme.

Rangsit Campus
The study of law at the Rangsit Campus began in 1986, in accordance with the university’s policy to relocate the regular undergraduate programmes to the Rangsit Campus. Initially, students at the Faculty of Law were required to study fundamental courses in the first year of Thammsat University’s curriculum at the Rangsit Campus, and from their second year until graduation, they studied law courses at the Faculty of Law, Tha Prachan. In 2006, education for students of the Faculty of Law on all undergraduate law programmes became conducted at the Rangsit Campus. The Faculty of Law, Rangsit Campus, is a 9-story building located in the Social Sciences complex, near the Chiang Rak exit of Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus. The Y-shaped building is a shared learning space for the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Political Science, and the Faculty of Social Sciences. At the building’s entrance, there is a statue of Professor Sanya Dharmasakti. The Faculty of Law, Rangsit Campus, was completed and opened in the first semester of the 2002 academic year. Currently, it offers a 4-year Bachelor of Laws programme.

Lampang Campus
Due to the continually increasing number of students interested in studying law, the Faculty of Law adopted a policy of expanding its education to regional areas, to broaden legal study. In 2003, the Faculty of Law began offering education on a graduate Bachelor of Laws programme at the Lampang Campus as a pilot project for undergraduate legal education in the region. Later, in 2009, the Faculty of Law, Thammasat University, Lampang Campus opened a regular law programme to accept Matthayom 6 (final year of secondary school) students from 17 provinces in the northern region of Thailand. Currently, this campus offers a 4-year Bachelor of Laws programme.
